We remain humble when we realize that the spiritual journey has no end.

The sense of boundless optimism and of an endless expanse felt at the beginning of a New Year hints at the fact that the spiritual journey has no end. Accordingly, the difference between a person who has spent 30 years on the journey and one who has been working at it for only 3 is like comparing a centimeter to a millimeter. In comparison to the limitlessness of the journey, there isn't much difference between the two! It is this kind of perspective that elicits an attitude of humility and honesty in the true contemplative practitioner :)
