Paradox is one of the most wonderful aspects of the Cosmos. While Logos or Masculine wisdom reveals the distinctions or differences between things, Sophia or Feminine wisdom then comes along and shows us how these distinctions - and even opposites - have a habit of magically shapeshifting into one another, thus forming a seamless Whole or Unity. Sometimes this has been called "Crazy Wisdom," and for good reason. Thus, for example, whenever I practice Wilderness Insight Meditation, identifying myself with spacious awareness - otherwise known as Divine Love - as the true reality, suddenly out of this seamless vastness arise ALL of the forms, perceptions, thoughts and emotions of life, as though out of nowhere! It is the process of creation happening before my very eyes! On the other hand, whenever I identify myself with the continual flow of finite thoughts and perceptions, I discover them all leading me back toward the endless Horizon of Being - toward silence and wordlessness - as though, to speak mythically, the thoughts are a "hand" composed of distinct, caressing "fingers" that are attached to a transparent "arm" which has its source in an invisible "body" residing on the endlessly distant horizon! Similarly, whenever I view an insight as true only within the enclosure of my own mind and imagination, the more I find that the insight suddenly has a life of its own, originating BEYOND me and GRASPING a hold of me from its source in that endless Beyond. On the other hand, the more I give myself to the infinity and timelessness of the Source of that insight in a Presence who dwells BEYOND me, the more I am led to see that my decision to have faith in the insight - a trust that originates just NOW, in this FINITE, present moment - is actually an act that somehow turns out to be the reason WHY the insight has been ALWAYS AND FOREVER TRUE! How crazy and amazing and wonderful is this spiritual journey we are all traveling upon, where opposites never stay put!
