"National parks are the best idea we ever had. Absolutely American, absolutely democratic, they reflect us at our best rather than our worst."

Wallace Stegner

"There is nothing so American as our national parks.... The fundamental idea behind the parks is that the country belongs to the people, that it is in the process of making for the enrichment of the lives of all of us."

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Photos: NPS employees carved this ten-foot-tall snow sculpture outside the Alpine Visitor Center off Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, CO. The other two photos are from the Gore Range (distant) and Never Summer Range from Trail Ridge Road. The road opened for the season last Saturday, May 28th. These photos were taken on June 3, 2016
