Albert Einstein In terms of human experience, this allows us to appreciate and contemplate each event - including those of the distant past - in all of its magic and wonder. If we as human beings are a primary way in which the Universe knows and stands in awe and wonder of itself, then this fact is supremely important! Hiking in Bisti De-Na-Zin Badlands last weekend, we came upon these awesome petrified logs. They are the remnants of 200-foot tall cypress-like conifers that grew in a lush swamp 70 million years ago during the Tertiary Period. I love pondering geologic time!
